About Me

From lived experience to clinical insight, I walk with you through uncertainty and into clarity, offering real support instead of surface advice.

My Story

My story didn’t start in a classroom. It started in recovery.

With the selfless help of others, I’ve journeyed from despair and defeat to genuine hope, and reclaimed a life I didn’t know was possible. Today, walking beside others on their journey is not just my work—it’s who I am. If you’re reading this, chances are you’ve tried to manage your drinking in secret for a while. You may feel conflicted, angry, or unsure if this will even work. I understand. I will never forget how painful and isolating it felt. Working so hard to look good on the outside, while quietly unraveling within. You may drink or use to self-medicate anxiety, the lasting effects of trauma, or just to feel normal.

My approach is deeply relational and grounded in both science and 30 years of personal recovery. I’ve walked this path, and I know recovery isn’t about quick fixes or endless advice. It’s about connection, clarity, and reclaiming a life you actually want to live. You won’t get judgment here, just honest feedback, years of experience, and a steady presence.

Not sure if you want to stop forever, or skeptical of recovery models like AA? That’s okay. I’ll meet you where you are. Together, we’ll explore what healing could look like for you—not in theory, but in practice. My goal is simple: to walk with you as you find your way back to yourself. If you’re ready to begin (or begin again), I invite you to reach out.

The core values that drive everything I do

Compassion Over Judgment

Everyone’s path is different. I meet you with care, not assumptions.

Real Experience, Not Just Theory

This is more than a profession. It’s rooted in personal recovery and years of walking this road.

Connection Comes First

Healing starts with trust. I show up as a real person, not a distant expert.

Clarity Through Conversation

We don’t get stuck in labels or jargon. We talk honestly, and that’s where change begins.

Flexible, Not Formulaic

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach. We figure out what works for you, together.

Hope Is Always on the Table

Even if you can’t see it yet, I’ll help you move toward a life that feels worth living.

Frequently asked questions

What are your fees? Do you offer a sliding scale?

My standard rate is $200 per session. I do offer a sliding scale for qualified clients based on financial need.

What are your office hours?

I see clients Tuesday through Fridby appointment only.

Do you offer both in-person and virtual sessions?

Yes, I offer both in-person and virtual sessions. The best approach for your specific treatment needs is typically discussed during our initial consultation.

Do you accept health insurance?

Over the past decade, insurance companies have made the reimbursement process increasingly difficult for both mental health patients and providers. Many therapists and psychiatrists have moved to this model due to low reimbursement rates and inadequate authorization for the number of sessions needed. Additionally, information gathered by insurance companies, including actual session notes in some cases, can become part of your permanent medical record.

Can I pursue insurance reimbursement on my own?

You may be eligible for reimbursement if you have health insurance coverage. As an out-of-network provider, I recommend asking your insurance company these important questions: Do I have mental health/substance abuse benefits? What is my deductible and has it been met? How many sessions per calendar year does my plan cover? How much does my plan cover for an out-of-network provider? What is the coverage amount per therapy session? Is approval required from my primary care physician?

What payment methods do you accept?

I accept American Express, cash, check, Discover, Mastercard, PayPal, Venmo, Visa, and Zelle.

How do I schedule a free initial consultation?

You can schedule a free initial consultation by clicking the blue "BOOK A FREE CONSULT" button located in the upper right corner of any page on this website.

What qualifications do you have as a counselor in Sarasota?

I hold a Master's degree in Clinical Social Work from an accredited university and am a Certified Addictions Professional as recognized by Florida Certification Board, which is the highest credential for substance abuse providers in the state of Florida.

What ages do you work with?

I work with adults 18 years and older.

How long is each session?

Each session is 50 minutes.

Where is your office located?

My office is located in downtown Sarasota in the Burns Court District.

Can you prescribe medication?

No, I cannot prescribe medication. Pharmaceutical medications can only be prescribed by a Medical Doctor or Psychiatrist.
